In the old days there was no weather report or daily newspapers, yet our ancestors were able to predict the weather. Living in tropical areas, you can predict heavy rainfall 1 or 2 days ahead, by simply watching the behavior of ants and termites. If you see ants migrating massively and feverishly carrying their eggs to higher ground, you know that within 1 or 2 days you will get a lot of rain, even when on the day you notice the ants it is the most beautiful day of the year.

In principle termites do the same thing, but it is a bit harder to see. However, if you notice out of nowhere termite tracks going up from the ground on the wall of your house or columns, rain is on the way. On the other hand however, if you notice termite tracks start to go down, you basically know you will get a dry spell, because Termites need water, and they have to go underground to get it.
